Three San Francisco officers were injured when two police cruisers crashed into each other while responding to a call for backup in the Mission Thursday night, officials said.

The cars both had their lights and sirens on as they responded to the call for backup at 15th and Valencia streets about 10:45 p.m., said Sgt. Michael Andraychak.

The cars collided at 15th and Mission streets, with one of the cars also smashing into a fire hydrant before coming to rest against a building, Andraychak said.

All three officers were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The crash was under investigation.
