Success Story: All about cars in Lehigh Acres – The News-Press
Aldo Ibarra considers himself a car doctor.
As owner and operator of All About Cars in Lehigh Acres, he finds the problem and fixes it right the first time, and for a fair price.
That’s because Ibarra is passionate about cars and helping people. And when it comes to growing the business, his motto is simple: Treat people right.
“There’s no magic in getting good customers,” he said. “It’s just you treat people right, the way that they expect to be treated. Everything black and white: no gray. That’s my favorite line.”
All About Cars does a variety of automobile repairs, ranging from air conditioners and brakes to electrical diagnostics, clutches, tune-ups and transmissions. It also services fleets for Southwest Florida businesses.
Ibarra opened All About Cars in 2007 and said things were slow at first. He’d visit nearby businesses to introduce himself, hoping to fulfill their fleet work and their employees’ personal automobile needs.
He also did a lot of networking with the Southwest Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he’d meet people through coaching Little League, which he began in 1999 and continued while his son was still playing. Now, he fixes the cars of both Little League parents and the children he previously coached.
“I grew in the area,” he said. “I grew in the community.”
And while All About Cars has steadily grown each year, Ibarra said it really took off about three years ago. He’s never done any advertising and said this growth has been from word of mouth and building relationships in the community.
In 2013, the company grossed about $163,000 in sales compared to the about $157,000 collected in 2012, which is a growth of 4 percent year over year. From 2011 to 2012, he said gross revenues increased about 10 percent.
Right now, the work is done by Ibarra and his son Brandon, who works part time and is taking classes at Edison State College. But Ibarra said he’s looking to hire another mechanic to help with the workload.
Michael Keselica, an 82-year-old Fort Myers resident, said Ibarra is passionate about his work. He’s friendly, a good communicator and keeps his auto repair shop clean.
“He did what he said he’s going to do and did it on time,” Keselica said.
Kevin Cavanaugh, 39, of Buckingham, brings his 2005 Scion xB to All About Cars. Cavanaugh said Ibarra is honest and upfront. He also has reasonable prices and gives advice on car maintenance.
“He treats my vehicle and my wife’s vehicle as if it was his vehicle,” Cavanaugh said.
And for Ibarra, he likes that his job connects him to the community.
“Sometimes you treat people and it starts off as a relationship where I’m just a mechanic,” he said. “And then through the years, now I find them coming here when they don’t need anything to bring me coffee because they know how much I love coffee, and I see their kids growing up and I work on their kids’ cars. It becomes more like a family.”

Tips for success
• Be thorough. In your thoroughness, you will fix only what the customer needs. Don’t repair problems that don’t need to be fixed.
• Treat people with integrity. Being honest will bring customers back.
• Treat people like family. Do what you say you’re going to do. Stick to the times, dates and dollar amounts you give customers.
