A suspect is in custody after authorities say he intentionally rammed several cars Tuesday at police headquarters in Linden, New Jersey.

The man drove into the parking garage on North Wood Avenue at a high rate of speed and rammed several cars, including a police vehicle, before driving away and slamming into several more cars, including another police vehicle.

Neighbors caught the dramatic final crash on camera, just before the driver apparently tried to ruin from the scene.

By then police cars all over the city had been slammed into by the suspect who was finally tackled and taken down right in Pat Cerra’s front yard.

“He jumped out of his vehicle, jumped over my fence, and they all had guns pointed at him,” Cerra said.

“I did not know something would happen like that. I can’t believe it happened,” said Aniela Wojciak, suspect’s grandmother.

Wojciak says the driver who hit so many cars, including hers, was her own grandson.

“You don’t think he was trying to hurt you?” Eyewitness News Reporter Jim Dolan asked.

“No, never, he would never, he hit the car, but I don’t think that he wanted to kill me, I don’t think that,” Wojciak said.

But what in the world was he doing before police arrested him and took him away?

“A car came flying by me with his hood up over the windshield and the guy’s head out the window doing about 50 miles an hour down West Henry. I put two and two together and it doesn’t sound like he’s up to any good,” said Donald Bayer, an Eyewitness. “Driving with his head out the window like a dog, like a cocker spaniel.”

Bayer, a city councilman, followed the suspect and saw the head on collision with a police officer.

“The officer, I got to compliment him, after he got hit by the SUV at a high rate of speed, he got out of that car and tackled and arrested him,” Bayer said.

After being arrested and taken back to headquarters, he sprayed two officers with a canister of mace as he was being taken out of the police car, according to police.

The suspect was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
