AirAsia plane ‘was flying unauthorised route’ when it crashed – The Times (subscription)

Indonesia said that the lost AirAsia plane was flying on an unauthorised route
at the time of its disappearance, while search officials said they had
located four large pieces of the airbus in the Java Sea.

The country’s transport authorities said that jetliner did not have permission
to fly the Surabaya-Singapore route on a Sunday, the day on which it
disappeared with 162 people on board.

They have ordered the carrier to suspend all flights on the route while they
carry out an investigation to discover potential violations.
