Cars stolen in West Town after being left unattended with engines running – Chicago Tribune
Residents should not leave their cars unattended with the keys inside, police said Sunday, noting that six such vehicles were stolen in the West Town and Tri-Taylor neighborhoods in the past month.
The thieves drove away in the cars, which were left out in the afternoon and evening hours with the keys inside and the engine running.
Five of the incidents occurred in the West Town neighborhood of the city. One, in the 2300 block of West Harrison Street, happened in the Tri-Taylor neighborhood.
Witnesses noted that two vehicles may have been involved in the thefts: a white Jaguar and a Dodge Durango that may be dark blue.
Police recommend reporting suspicious activity, saving and copying any video surveillance that might exist of auto thefts, and getting contact information from any witnesses that victims may encounter.
