Sholto Gilbertson, Bonhams director of motor cars, said: “Chris Evans has been a long-standing client of Bonhams, so we’re delighted to offer his incredible motor cars, including six outstanding Ferraris.

“In refreshing his collection, others will have the opportunity to enjoy Chris’s fantastic cars. After all, you never ‘own’ a classic car, you enjoy it, look after it and pass it on for others to appreciate.”

More than 140 lots of Evans’s car-related automobilia will also be offered, the proceeds of which will be donated to the BBC’s Children in Need charity, of which he is a tireless supporter.

The other Ferraris for sale are a 1965 275 GTS Spider (estimate £1.3m-£1.6m), a 1963 250 SWB Replica (£500,000-£600,000) and a 1989 Ferrari 328 GTS (£100,000-£130,000).

The remaining cars are 1949 Jaguar XK120 roadster with alloy bodywork (£325,000-£380,000); 1967 Jaguar XKSS recreation by Lynx (£320,000-£380,000); 1936 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang replica (£250,000-£300,000); 1970 Mercedes 280SL (£100,000-£130,000); 1959 Jaguar XK150 (£55,000-£65,000); 1964 police-specification Daimler Dart SP250 (£50,000-£60,000) and a 1983 Fiat 127 Abarth (£10,000-£15,000).
