Donna Douglas, the actress that played Elly May Clampett on “The Beverly Hillbillies,” has died. She was 81 years old.
Various outlets have received confirmation from Douglas’ family that she died Thursday at her Zachary, Louisiana home.
Douglas was best known for her role as the Clampett’s tomboy daughter given to having weird pets and getting into strange adventures, but she was also in one of the most memorable episodes of “The Twilight Zone” in 1960.
She was in the November 1960 episode “The Eye of the Beholder” where she was deemed ugly by a race of pig-nosed people, even after a series of facial reconstruction surgeries.
Douglas also had a career as a traveling evangelist, visiting churches, praying for the sick, and telling all the old stories from her time in Hollywood.
