Driver reports his BMW hit by bullets in Hinsdale – Chicago Tribune
Hinsdale police are investigating a report that someone fired gun shots following a road rage incident Saturday night near 55th Street and Route 83.
An 18-year-old from Riverside reported Monday that he was involved in a road rage incident about 10 p.m. the previous Saturday with the driver of a dark green Chevrolet Trailblazer, police chief Kevin Simpson said.
The teenager said the traffic altercation started as he was driving his black BMW on 55th near Madison Street. Both vehicles proceeded west on 55th and were stopped for the red light on 55th at Route 83, the 18-year-old said. The Trailblazer was in the right-hand turn lane to go north on Route 83, when the driver rolled down his window. Someone in the BMW, which had three passengers in addition to the driver, rolled down their window and remarks were exchanged between the two cars, Simpson said.
The teenager said the driver of the Trailblazer then pulled out a black handgun and fired three shots at the front of the BMW. The Trailblazer turned north onto Route 83 and drove away.
The 18-year-old said he crossed Route 83 on 55th and got to a point where he could park. He checked his car and saw no damage, so he chose not to report the incident to the police, Simpson said.
On Monday, he noticed two bullet holes, one on the hood of his BMW and one on the front quarter panel and decided to report the gunshots to the police, Simpson said.
Police ask that anyone who was in the area on Saturday night and saw anything involving either of the two vehicles to call 630-789-7070.
