George HW Bush Remains In Hospital Following ‘Shortness of Breath’ – The Christian Times
Former President George H.W. Bush remained in the hospital Sunday after suffering from shortness of breath earlier this week.
The former politician was hospitalized at Houston’s Methodist Hospital in Texas Tuesday in what a family spokesperson described as a precaution after Bush reportedly suffered from shortness of breath ahead of the Christmas holiday season.
The 90-year-old former president previously spent over one month in the same hospital two years ago after suffering a Bronchitis-related infection.
Jim McGrath, a spokesperson for the Bush family, confirmed to CNN that doctors have determined the former president’s condition to be stable and are currently discussing discharge dates.
“President Bush’s condition has improved to the point that doctors have begun discussing dates for his discharge,” McGrath said in a statement. “He will remain at the Houston Methodist Hospital through the weekend for further observation.”
Bush, who was forced to stay at Houston’s Methodist Hospital for Christmas, received visits from his wife Barbara, son Neil and daughter-in-law Maria Bush on Christmas Day.
McGrath added that the oldest living former president “asked that his sincere wishes for a very Merry Christmas be extended to one and all.”
Earlier this week, the Bush family spokesperson said that Bush “remains in high spirits and continues to make progress, but he will remain at the Houston Methodist Hospital this evening.”
The former president suffers from a type of Parkinson’s Disease that has forced him to use a wheelchair for transportation. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday with skydiving in Maine.
