Earlier this month, a Tampa, Fla., man saw his cat, Bart, lying in the street after being hit by a car. Unable to handle the grisly task himself, the distraught man asked a friend to dig a shallow grave and bury the cat, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Five days after his burial, Bart reappeared, having dug himself out of the grave, the newspaper reported. He had a broken jaw, a ruptured eye, a torn-up face and was dehydrated and hungry – but alive.
The Humane Society of Tampa Bay offered to take care of Bart and is raising money for his extensive surgeries, according to the Times.
