Many of the latest-model cars consumers will be seeing on dealer lots next year will be on display Friday through Sunday at the Sacramento International Auto Show at Cal Expo.

The three-day show at 1600 Exposition Blvd. is sponsored by the Greater Sacramento New Car Dealers Association. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

This year’s event will showcase motor vehicles from more than 35 domestic and foreign manufacturers.

As in past years, proceeds from the 2017 show will benefit Make-A-Wish Northeastern California and Northern Nevada, Shriners Hospitals for Children – Northern California, and Ronald McDonald House.

Show producer Stacey Castle, head of Castle Communications Inc. in Gold River, said the Sacramento show also aims to help victims of this month’s devastating wildfires.

“In light of the tragic, life-altering fires (striking) our neighbors in Napa, Santa Rosa and countless other communities, we have partnered with the Red Cross to help raise funds for the victims as well as to provide free admission tickets to all families currently sheltering in the Sacramento area,” she said.

Castle said the show and GSNCDA “are proud to be able to provide immediate assistance using previous years’ auto show charitable proceeds.”

Show attendees also will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel and test-drive vehicles on multiple closed courses on the Cal Expo grounds. Ride-and-drive vehicles are being provided by Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Ford, Jeep, Ram, Toyota and Volkswagen.

An “All Electric Ride & Drive” from the Sacramento Municipal Utility District also will be on the grounds, with electric vehicle experts on hand to answer questions.

Numerous Sacramento-area car clubs will be represented, featuring classic models that include the Ford Mustang, Ford Thunderbird, Chevrolet Camaro and horseless carriages from the turn of the 20th century era. Sacramento’s California Automobile Museum also will have an exhibit on-site.

Specialty exhibits include motorcycles, vintage camper trailers, premium luxury vehicles, specialty autos, exotics, racing cars and recreational vehicles.

Various activities for children will be on the Cal Expo grounds.

Daily general admission is $13 for adults ages 18 and up; $9 for seniors ages 65 and up, military veterans and students with identification; $7 for teens ages 13 to 17; and $5 for children ages 8 to 12. Children age 7 and younger accompanied by an adult will be admitted free. Sunday is Family Day, when children ages 16 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.
