A 37-year-old man was arrested after a BMW M3 was stolen from a San Francisco dealership early Monday morning, a sleeping person was struck in a hit-and-run and police were called out to a domestic dispute.

San Francisco Officer Albie Esparza said that police went to the 1600 block of Howard Street about 5:15 a.m. to find the dealership’s windows were smashed and cars had been moved around.

Police believe that the suspect had broken into the dealership and tried to steal one car after finding the locked box where the keys are stored, Esparza said. But after unsuccessfully trying to take that car, the suspect allegedly ended up taking a BMW M3 and driving it out the side window onto the street, Esparza said.

Then, about 5:20 a.m., police officers raced to a hit-and-run injury accident at Mason and Post streets involving a new BMW, Esparza said. The driver fled the scene after crashing into a parked vehicle where an occupant was sleeping, police said.

Then, about 6:30 a.m. another officer responded to a domestic dispute between a man and a woman. When the officer arrived and spoke with the man, another officer determined that he was linked to the BMW involved in the hit-and-run.
