Arcadia Community Park will host a weekend of cars, music and food with the Arcadia Lions Club Summerfest on Aug. 26 and the third annual “Pistons in the Park” car show hosted by the Fort Findlay Mustang Club on Aug. 27.
Northwestern Ohio country band East of Cheyenne will perform Friday with music beginning at 6:30 p.m. and running until 9:30 p.m.
Food and snacks will be available and admission is $5, with children 16 and under admitted for free.
All proceeds support Lions Club charities, including Lions Club International Foundation, Pilot Dogs, Northwest Ohio Eye Care, Eyeglasses, and maintenance for the community park.
The car show will run from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday with 50/50 drawings, door prizes, raffles, and food by the Arcadia Lions Club.
Bryan Mersch, the car club president, said there are 15-20 cars pre-registered for the show, and the club is hoping for more than 100 to show up. All makes and models are welcome.
“Last year there were about 90 cars, and every year it has gotten bigger,” he said.
Registration is $15 and begins at 10 a.m., with judging beginning at noon. The top 20 trophies will be awarded at 2 p.m.
Admission to the car show is free, with donation containers available for charities including the Koda Bear Foundation and Hospice of Findlay as well as the Millstream Career Center Fort Findlay Mustang Club scholarship.
Mersch said last year’s show raised about $2,500, and that one of the event’s sponsors, Hercules Tire, will unveil a new model at the car show.
The event will be held rain or shine, with all activities moving into the community building if it rains.
Sponsors for the car show include Rowmark, Flag City Water Systems, Hufford Family Funeral Home, Millstream Area Credit Union, and Reineke Family Dealerships.
