Dodge goes car noir with Dart Blacktop – USA TODAY
The blackout continues at Dodge.
Dodge Dart is the latest vehicle in brand’s lineup to get a Blacktop package, a list of design items that are, as the name implies, centered around black.
The compact car will get glossy black wheels, split-crosshair grille with black grille surround, darkened headlamp bezels and other black-is-beautiful touches. The resulting Dart Blacktop will be shown next week at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The interior is black, too, with splashes of red accents.
Though the overall Blacktop treatment might sound a bit austere, Dodge has spread it pretty much over the entire line, including Charger, Challenger, Avenger, Journey and Grand Caravan. Add Durango and it would be a clean sweep.
“The Blacktops have become a signature of sorts for the Dodge Brand,” said Tim Kuniskis, CEO of Chrysler Group’s Dodge brand, in a statement. “With the addition of the Blacktop package for the Dodge Dart, we’re adding to our line-up of vehicles that offer the more aggressive look that has become so popular.”
The 2014 Dodge Dart Blacktop will start arriving at dealerships early next year. It is priced at $295 when it comes with the Dart SXT with the Rallye Appearance Group.
At least it won’t come only in black. Dodge Dart Blacktop will be available in Redline Red, Header Orange, Blue Streak, Granite Crystal Metallic, Billet Silver and Bright White.
And black? Yep. Try Pitch Black. It doesn’t come any blacker.
