Former GM India President Dies After Falling From Hotel In Thailand – GM Authority (blog)

Former General Motors India president and current managing director of Tata Motors, Karl Slym, has died after falling from a high floor of the Shangri-La hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, Reuters reports.

Slym was in the Thai capital to attend a board meeting of Tata Motors, a company spokeswoman said, providing no further details. The former GM exec led Tata’s operations in India and other markets including South Korea, Thailand and South Africa. Prior to his position with GM India, Slym was managing director of GM’s Chinese joint venture, SAIC GM-Wuling.

What caused Slym to fall to his death is not yet known. Police have launched an investigation and a post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out today.

Update: Slym’s death has been ruled a suicide. Our condolences to his friends and family.
