Toyota Increases Innova Crysta’s Production to Reduce Waiting Period – NDTVAuto.com
Toyota Innova Crysta, the most recent iteration of the popular MPV, has garnered up to 30,000 orders since it was launched here in May, 2016. In fact, the all-new Innova Crysta also registered its name among the top 10 passenger vehicles in India in the same month. While Toyota retailed 7,259 units of the Innova Crysta in May, it sold 7,500 units of the MPV in June, 2016. Additonally, the Toyota Innova Crysta currently observes a waiting period of over 3 months. Considering the demand, the automaker increased the MPV’s production in June and expects to uphold it.
N Raja, Director and Senior Vice President (Sales & Marketing), Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), said, “Since the launch of the Innova Crysta we have done up to 30,000 bookings, out of which 50 per cent are for the automatic transmission variant. Currently, we have a waiting period of over three months. We are increasing production. In May when we started we were producing around 6,000 units. In June, it went up to around 7,800 units. Going forward, depending on demand we expect to maintain that level.”
(Up to 30,000 orders have been received for the MPV since its launch)
The Innova Crysta is offered in four grades with manual transmission (Zx, Vx, Gx & G) and in two grades with an automatic transmission (Zx & Gx), which constitutes about 50 – 60 per cent of the car’s total orders. Raja added that the company had expected the automatic variants to make up nearly 30 – 40 per cent of the total demand. Now that a change has been observed, vendors have been asked to boost their supplies.
